Abstract
Soft skills are associated with a person's emotional intelligence quotient( EQ). It refers to all
aspects of generic skills that include the cognitive elements associated with non-academic

communicational, interpersonal and managerial skills, that characterize relationships with
other people.Soft skills are needed in different aspects of life to adapt to changing
circumstances and the willingness to learn through experience. They allow us to effectively

collaborative problem solving skills along with academic knowledge and cognitive skills.
According to the psychologist Daniel Goleman, soft skills contribute to a person’s ability to
manage him or herself and relate to other people skills which matter twice as much as IQ or
technical skills in job success. Soft skills are applicable across multiple discipline and
carriers. A doctor needs to be an excellent communicator in order to convey information to
his patients, and at the same time he needs to be an excellent problem solver to handle
difficult situations and reach at the correct diagnosis. A janitor must have a good inter
personal skill so that he can get along with his co-workers. An actor must be persistent in
spite of facing rejection over and over.
As every single occupation the field of teaching and learning also demand soft skills for
better outcome. Besides teaching in the class room teachers must act as a researcher keeping
an eye on their student’s learning curve and applying suitable methodology for bring it high.
